Newbie here
Hello everyone. I am new to CPAP therapy and to the boards. I received my CPAP machine on 8/5/14 so only 5 nights but I already see a major improvement in my sleep. I used to wake 4 or 5 times a night to use the bathroom, get a drink because my mouth was so dry or just waking up for no reason. Last night I was up once to use the bathroom. Never needed a drink because of dry mouth. I am using SleepyHead to monitor my nights. I am still having apnea issues but I am sure my Dr will probably change my pressure when I send in my card and they review it. I am on 8 right now.
Last night I had 11 OA events. I don't know how many I had when I had my initial sleep study but part way thru the night the attendant came in and hooked me up to a CPAP. I also found out that my O2 dropped to 74% which is NOT good.
I am feeling much better during the day. I don't have that totally exhausted feeling only an hour after getting up. I am still getting used to the nasal mask but it's doable. Thumbs-up-2

Welcome to the forum! I see you are using Sleepyhead, have availed yourself of this forum and have an exceptionally good attitude toward the therapy. You are doing really well for only five nights and we look forward to helping with any questions you may have and hearing about your experience.

Hi JMyers,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Yes, CPAP therapy can take some getting used to, but you have a good attitude and that will go a long way.
Just keep up the good work and hang in there for more responses to your post.
Best of luck to you with your CPAP therapy.

Hi JM. Yes, it sounds like you are doing very well. Good job that. As far as the pressure is concerned, I'm thinking you're probably right that the doc may up it a little. But it also sounds like your AHI score is probably pretty low, and sometimes that's all they look at. That's fine, but dialing it up to see if the remaining OA's can go away (mostly) without introducing a flock of CA's would make sense to me.

When you go see your doc, take your sleepyhead report with you so he can understand you are capable of monitoring your condition accurately.
