Machine: Resmed S9 Elite
Newbie needing help
My husband has just been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. When I try and read about machine settings I don't understand any of it. We have no insurance and someone gave me a Resmed S9 Elite. His settings are 21/17. Can he use this kind of machine?

Hello martin,
21/15 sounds like a bilevel machine prescription. Does the Rx say 21 IPAP and 15 EPAP? If so, the Elite would not be the right machine. Let's clarify this first and then we can go from there.

Hi martin2006,
WELCOME! to the forum. If your husband's prescription had a pressure of 21-17, machines that are strictly CPAP, (such as the S9 Elite,) only go as high as a pressure of 20. Hang in there for more answers to your questions and much success to your husband with getting his sleep apnea treated.
