Change of Mask

Change of Mask
I have changed from a nasal mask to a nasal pillow and keyed that information into the S9 autoset.

Will this change also affect the data in Sleepyhead? For example with the pressures still be the same or do pillows require less pressure?

RE: Change of Mask
Pressure is applied a bit more directly with nasal pillows, but the extra volume of mask space is not nearly as dramatic as with a full face mask. I'm sure you'll feel the difference, but it doesn't necessarily mean you change the pressure.

If your profile is correct and you're using an auto with a wide open 4-20 setting, you might consider tightening that up at some point. Watch your data and let us know if you see a difference with the mask change.

Yes, thank you, I will keep an eye on the pressure and see if it is reducing.

RE: Change of Mask
My range tightened significantly, BUT, you must make changes SLOWLY! Most will recommend a 7 day minimum between changes. I go 30 days as you may go 4-5-6 days pretty steady then spike, then back to normal. This could happen on a more or less schedule, maybe 2 days in a row, maybe once in 2 weeks. A spike in readings on occasion is normal.

My other suggestion would be to LOG somehow, be it paper, spreadsheet, or other means each change so if you have unsatisfactory results you can do a "restore" so to speak and then maybe move in another direction. It took me about 4 months to get where I'm at but well worth it, now at my range I won't gamble going backwards. Another few points I don't think will improve my therapy enough to notice.

Of course the 4 months was, in my opinion about a 50% overall improvement.

I found that nasal pillows are very effective at lower pressures. i.e. say 9-13 cm/H2O
