RE: Newbie w/issues!
Thank you all for your input! I still have the ups/downs with numbers and hours of good sleep: Three nights ago was a very good night, but the last two nights have been, ahem, less than good. The leaks are now way down since I've figured out how to use mask liners correctly, but the apneas are still in the 3 range, with CA 1.5-2.0 (The latter is baffling b/c there were NO CAs mentioned in my sleep study report. I've read about emergent CA as someone begins CPAP therapy, so I'm assuming that's the reason. Also, with the nasal pillows the CAs were usually <1.0.) Sheepless, I, too, golf (notice, I didn't say that I'm a golfer... that's reserved for those whose handicap is more than their game!), and the "well, that hole stunk, but, hey, here comes another one!" has always been my mantra. I think it's time for me to call my sleep specialist in the States and ask about increasing my minimum pressure (it's at 4.0) to see it that will help both my numbers and being able to sleep supine. Best.
RE: Newbie w/issues!
I wasn't aware that your low pressure setting is only 04. That, historically, and across patients, has tended to have virtually no therapeutic value. I won't advise you any further because I am relatively new at this, and because I have no qualifications or training in PAP therapy, but there are other more savvy people here, notably sleeprider if he chimes in, who will offer some advice about how to improve your therapy. At least, the therapy, such as it ever becomes, should make you feel more confident in it and feel that you are experiencing better sleep/rest and better moods. The numbers are one thing, but the perceptions that you are not being treated almost nullifies it all.
