RE: Coconut oil in mask wipes
You want something that is going to break down the oil from the skin, not add to it.
If I were to get crazy enough to try wipes again (I can't stand the smell) I would try water, Dawn (or a more organic, Earth friendly version), and witch hazel.
But to go back to the porn, I wonder if any of the toy cleaners would work on our masks? They are designed to be very good at cleaning yet not degrade the silicone. The hard part would be explaining to our spouses what we got them for.

You guys are hilarious!
What a great idea, toy cleaner for the cpap mask.
Maybe I can incorporate into my home made wipes, you know, to justify buying in bulk....
RE: Coconut oil in mask wipes
Going out on a limb here, but guessing those types of products are more expensive than the ones made specifically for cleaning CPAP stuff.
Witch Hazel works well, but you would have to make it yourself and keep it refrigerated in order to have it free of alcohol. Hamamelis Virginiana is preserved with alcohol and I have yet to find any commercially available with less than 14% alcohol.
The CPAP wipes I use are mainly: Water, Witch Hazel, Polysorbate 20, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine (Coconut?) and they do contain a small amount of Phenoxyethanol (alcohol). These haven't degraded my mask cushion in any noticeable way.
Seems I remember reading somewhere that Silicone is not damaged in the least by alcohol but people often assume it is because alcohol damages latex so much...seems I also remember reading somewhere that ResMed makes a point of NOT using any Latex because of so many people having sensitivities to Latex.
I would be interested in knowing if anyone has had success using alcohol to clean their mask cushion daily...

I have been using alcohol to clean my masks for years and have not seen any of the seals degrade at all . I use a Wypall [a Industrial type of paper towel that is very soft ] and plain old rubbing Alcohol to clean the mask in the morning then in the evening just before bed I use a Wypall and alcohol to clean the oils off of my face after washing with soap and water first . I almost never get leaks unless I flop over on my face . Sorry I have never seen Alcohol destroy Any true silicon seal ,Cpap , Scuba or Industrial seals on equipment . Latex and rubber Yes it sure will destroy them . My opinion and experience only.
