[News] RECALL THREAD-- IMPORTANT PHILIPS DREAMSTATION & SYSTEM ONE USERS
RE: RECALL THREAD-- IMPORTANT PHILIPS DREAMSTATION & SYSTEM ONE USERS

I've seen about five posts on a FB Recall group where someone has reported receiving a replacement DS1 for their DS1 BiPAP. I don't recall seeing anyone receiving a replacement for ANY System One machines (BiPAP or CPAP), but again...that's just anecdotal info.

RE: RECALL THREAD-- IMPORTANT PHILIPS DREAMSTATION & SYSTEM ONE USERS
I have not received any information on my DS1 BIPAP. It makes sense to me that Philips is handling the less expensive and more widely used CPAP machines first.  There have been suggestions that Philips will produce new DS1 BIPAPs, and I would be happy with that.  Second option could be that we get a reconditioned machine with a new component to draw and circulate air.  Hopefully if this happens, we get a new motor, which I believe will reset the machine at 0 hours of use.  Something will happen, but because these machines are more expensive and used by fewer people, I suspect we will be near the end of the 12 month period.

My new Dreamstation is smaller than my old one, but its exactly the same shape. My old was a DSX700T11,
but my new one is DSX700S11F.

However, I'm still using my Resmed Aircurve VAuto, and will keep using it, and the new Dreamstation for a backup.
I wonder why they didn't send a new Dreamstation 2, maybe its because its not a bipap.

The FB posts I've seen about replacement BiPAPs have all been DS1s. It's not clear whether these were "new/in-stock" DS1s that had new foam put in them, or whether they were used DS1s that had been reconditioned. (and I suppose you could say that a new DS1 with new foam is also "reconditioned...refurbished"?...it gets confusing).

I'm pretty sure that Philips has not produced a DS2 BiPAP machine, so the only option for BiPAPs would be a DS1...either new, with new foam; or reconditioned/refurbished with new foam.

I'd be curious to see the physical difference in the recalled DS1700 and the Replacement DS1700. Different color foam? expecting a white foam as in the DS2s.

You're right, my mind is not working. Forget everything I said.
They sent me a Dreamstation, just like the other one, so I took off the humidifier from my old one, placed it on the one they sent, then changed all the settings to those of my old one.

Just out of curiosity, I checked the no. of hours on the one they sent, and it is of course 0.
Do you suppose this is one that was used by someone, and they refurbished it and changed the hours to 0? (I wouldn't doubt it)

I hope it will be o.k. for a backup, for my previous backup was a system one, which was also recalled.
But I hope I will not have to use this "new" Dreamstation very often. Forgive me, but I still have doubts about Philip's products, because of what happened to me (over 9000 hours on a bad machine)

I am suing Phillips in small claims court.  The response from Phillips to this life-threatening debacle is sick.  They still don't have a solution.   I suggest that each individual user sue them in court.
I will never buy another Phillips CPAP and will not buy any other Phillips product.
Phillips is monitoring this board.  Be careful and be anonymous.

Some DMEs and doctors charge a fee for the detailed data. All this simply forces people into handing over more money to professionals whose goal seems to be to wring every last drop from people in poor health.

In the US HIPPA has guidelines on access to records and fees that can be charged. Over the years I have requested and received records from doctors and have not as of yet been charged a fee.

This dude has written one of the most disgusting letters I have ever read. Heaven help him overcome his fear that patients would better understand their health disorder and the treatment.

Philips should get involved with this division and clean out the management offices. Start over!
