[News] RECALL THREAD-- IMPORTANT PHILIPS DREAMSTATION & SYSTEM ONE USERS
RE: RECALL THREAD-- IMPORTANT PHILIPS DREAMSTATION & SYSTEM ONE USERS

Receiving the Philips confirmation e-mail in a junk folder is acceptable.  It's troubling though if they're not even getting into user e-mail accounts.  Microsoft mail servers are said to use advanced spam technology filters as an additional way of preventing spam from ever hitting their users' accounts.  (It helps them reduce processing overhead too.)

What's worse is Philips may not know that their recalled user directed e-mails are not being received.  It's not too important for registration confirmation e-mails, but it might be important in 2-12 months for more important recall e-mails from Philips.  It's strange to be even having this concern - getting e-mails from a large multinational corporation.  For all we know though, Philips may have contracted out the end-user recall communications process to a third party vendor, just as they've contracted with third party telemarketing call centers.

I use Yahoo and mine went straight into my Normal Inbox and the Name showed Philips. The actual email came from globalintake-noreply@sedgwick.com but it showed Philips as the contact name.

MEDIA RECALL NEWS
"Sleep apnea machines recalled over possible health problems"
California News Times

Mario Fante, Senior Press Officer at the Philips Global Press Office, said in an email:

“We fully understand the impact this has on patients.
We prioritize repairing or replacing forms on all affected devices.
At this time, we cannot provide an immediate solution.”

Philips estimates that 3-4 million units are in use worldwide, about half of which are in the United States. According to the company, it wants to “increase production of repair kits and replacement devices to 55,000 per week” and increase its capacity to 80,000.
[Note: Current production capacity is approximately 30,000 per week.  Philips' goal of 80,000 per week is at year-end.]

But the company still can’t send them. It is still awaiting regulatory approval from the FDA.

Meanwhile, Philips advises not to use affected CPAP and BiPap machines and suggests that users consult their doctor.

Mercer bought another machine from another company. Others did the same, which caused a shortage of sleep apnea. Mercer is now wondering if more than $ 1,700 he spent on the exchange will be refunded.  “Sometimes you look for justice. Sometimes there is nothing. You just have to survive,” Mercer said.

Philips argued that it might be helpful to use what is called an inline bacterial filter. Mercer wasn’t very confident in the solution. The FDA said there is no evidence of the safety or effectiveness of using that type of filter to reduce the risk of foam.

@Sea Papper, Listen - There is nothing wrong with being upset at this situation. We are ALL upset.

However, when you conjure up bizarre accusations and post them here as fact, that is a problem. Many people, including you have no idea how this works, so please give it a brake.

You MUST aware that Philips is NOT a direct to consumer marketer, so they have ZERO need to get involved with the infrastructure necessary to maintain optimal high volume and compliant email deliverability. This is a big deal that large companies have millions invested in this technology and talent, that I am not going to numerate for you.  If you think resorting to mail chimp for this campaign would have offered better results, you clearly have no clue whatsoever.

The FACT is, YOUR comment suggesting Philips is criminally conspiring by "design" to cause email deliverability issues is about as wrong as wrong can get.

Again, we here are all in the same boat. The objective here is to share FACTUAL intel and keep the members informed and up to date.  So please save all of your conspiracy stuff for somewhere else.  It's just not helpful to the objectives here to post outlandish things like this.

Philips Knew of CPAP Problems Before Recall, Claim Class Action Lawsuits
Further, the class action lawsuits contend that Philips knew about the toxins contaminating the PE-PUR foam used in the CPAP and BiPAP machines long before the company issued the recall.

“Patients who use the Recalled Breathing Machines have complained about black particles in their machines for several years,” state the lawsuits. “Philips, however, did not warn the public or its customers about these hazards until late April 2021 and did not recall the Recalled Breathing Machines until June 14, 2021.” The plaintiffs also point out that the recall coincidentally, or not, coincides with the launch of Philip’s new line of CPAP and BiPAP machines.

“Philips timed its recall of the Recalled Breathing Machines to coincide with the launch of its next generation of products, which purportedly do not suffer from the same PE-PUR foam issues,” notes the class action lawsuits which allege Philips is attempting to enrich itself by forcing CPAP users to buy new devices.

Huh Made a public disclosure to investors in April, recall in June. Time to subpoena the Philips accelerated life test data from the product assurance and quality groups12 years of "testing" and shipping illegal products and NOBODY saw foam dust? NOBODY checked the foam material MSDS for toxicity or bio-compatibility? Tell it to the judge.

Sea Papper
just what is your stake in this game? per your profile, you have no machine, no mask, no pressure and you are not using software, so what exactly is your interest?

Just received this e-mail from Medicare:

Medicare.gov

Recall alert for certain Philips medical devices

Philips recently issued a product recall for specific ventilators and sleep apnea devices.

If you own or rent one of the Philips products that were recalled, talk to your doctor as soon as possible about whether to continue using your recalled equipment.

If you would like to replace or repair your equipment, the supplier you bought the equipment from is responsible for replacing or repairing rental equipment at no cost to you when the equipment is less than 5 years old. If the equipment is more than 5 years old, Medicare will help pay for a replacement.
