Just my personal observation on these CPAP modem connections is that these manufacturers don't seem to be very concerned if the device connects reliably or not. Yes, OK the ResMed device won't cause as much frustration for dropped signals when compared to dropping phone calls or interruptions in data transmissions to your iPhone, Samsung Note or whatever. Even if they did connect with the same strong signal handling, the level of priority on this is cancelled out by the fact that to the manufacturers, we the patient aren't their customer. That's what the DME is supposed to be; ResMed, Respironics, etc. have customers called Lincare, Apria, etc. Our voices are not typically going to be heard and our concerns go unnoticed by Philips, ResMed, and their cronies. As long as data connections are reliable enough to get compliance data out, all parties that they think that counts to the bean counters are satisfied.

RE: ResMed Stonewalling Legitimate Question on MyAir
Myself, I find it in almost all medical equipment that the wireless data connection is weak. Devices such as our xPAP get poor signal at my home. I'm currently wearing a cardiac holter monitor and I get about 10-20% signal according to the device. My actual cell phones get rough equivalent to 4 bars in the same house, same location in the house, and looking at them one right after the other.

When I purchased a machine direct from Resmed I was given the option of enabling the modem for an extra £20 I did not bother

RE: ResMed Stonewalling Legitimate Question on MyAir
Great timing, I am working on this issue now. MyAir was working for 4 years and suddenly stopped working a few days ago. I noticed my modem settings now show provider and service as blank where before they were populated. I spoke with ASP repair and they said that I mostly likely need to change my cam board and since it is “married to the main board”, I would need to change it as well. I fail to understand how they are married together as you can replace the cam board without changing the main board, but it is possible that something changed on the main board to enable a 4G cam board to function. I am handy and was thinking about doing this myself but I don’t see any boards listed for sale online.
Since MyAir stopped working, and I am aware of the discontinuation of CDMA, I decided I will kill two birds with one stone. Any ideas on how to get ahold of the boards? |
