Noise up the tube to mask - how to stop it
Hi all,
Just wondering how you stop the noise going from the CPAP machine, up the tube into the mask. When I put earplugs in you can hear the whiring of the motor, when take earplugs out its much better but still hear it. Its not the air noise of breathing in and out its an additional noise.
Any tips to minimise the noise going up the airtube?
Cheers
Steve

Not going to help much, I don't know of any way to stop what you are describing. For me when I started using CPAP I listened to everything because it was all new and I was concerned that I would be able to breathe. All I can suggest is that you wear the mask while awake so you get used to it and trust it. The machine does work you will keep breathing. For the same reason when I got a new air filter for the bedroom, it did make some noise and that never bothered me- of course if it stopped working not much would have happened.

Of course this assumes that the machine does not need adjustment, sometimes the silicone seals on the water take need to be moved around to quiet them down.

I have a new machine and am having this problem as well. My old Respironics did not make a similar noise through the tubing, although it is a louder machine. Is there any way to reduce the through the tubing noise on newer "quiet" machines.

Steve, you didn't fill out your profile and list your machine--it might help if you do that to get more precise answers. I have a PR 560 machine and started out using my humidifier and heated hose at fairly high temperatures. I had to discontinue using the humidifier when operating on battery power when camping and my AHI dropped, but I got s lot of noise through my hose. I then went to passover humidification--water in tank but no heat in humidifier or hose and that stopped the noise. My numbers are down without the heat so I am sticking with the passover method. If you are using a humidifier, this reply doesn't help you--sorry.
