Not Getting Back to Sleep

RE: Not Getting Back to Sleep
I have the same problem, and my pressure is only set at 8. I've been using the ramp feature set to 5 minutes, which is usually long enough to fall back asleep. Sometimes it's not so I've been thinking of changing it to 10 minutes.

That is a backward step, even the first machine I had had a ramp.  NO, I tell a lie, it was the second, but the first one didn't last long, it was a F&P.
It was quieter then the last machine I had which was a brick!

It had disco lights that went up in steps, a bit annoying for a light sleeper, but to me, no problem!

RE: Not Getting Back to Sleep
Thank you all for the suggestions.  It turns out that the ramp didn't help.  After I woke up again at 3 something this morning it was hard to breathe at any pressure.  When I took off the mask it was kind of hard to breathe period and my nose was a bit stuffy.  However, I checked (like OpalRose suggested) and what woke me up was a leak.  Waking up has happened for three nights in a row now, but it wasn't a leak that woke me up night before last.  It didn't seem to be anything.

I have attempted to attach two screenshots, one before I woke up and one after the re-ramp.  I am at a loss and guess I will see how tonight goes.  The good news is my events are down pretty low and I seem to be sleeping more soundly.

Thanks again for all the help.

RE: Not Getting Back to Sleep
I don’t see anything major that would cause you to wake up, and your pressure doesn’t look to be increasing at that time for any reason.

I know you can’t help waking up, but try to keep your mask on and not get up, because that can become habit before you know it.

If I recall, I went through something like that, but I kept my mask on, made sure I was comfy and before long fell back asleep.  Unless you are very uncomfortable and find yourself laying there awake for longer than 30 minutes, then it’s probably best to get up for awhile.

I went through that last night. Doesn't happen very often Thankfully. If I don't fall asleep in 20 minutes I'll end up tossing and turning. Like OpalRose said if your not asleep in 30 minutes it's best to get up and go to another room. Read or doing something relaxing until you get sleepy again.

First of all, you need to check to see if your EPR is on.  If not, turn it on.  This allows you breathe out at a lower pressure.  Also, I would recommend experimenting with lower pressures.  You can do this yourself and there is a lot of guidance on this site to walk you through it.  Just check you sleepyhead data after each adjustment and you can see if it works or not.

Lastly, I will agree with the others, you need to just press the start/stop button to reset the ramp and that should help.

Best wishes for you.

I'm seeing pretty good results overall, with occasional arousals with a strong snore. From your description, I'd lower humidity, but the therap looks pretty good.

RE: Not Getting Back to Sleep
I am quite pleased with how the therapy is going.  Thanks to you the higher pressure that was suggested in my other thread has been the trick.  The past couple of days I have had more energy even with getting up so early.  I will do my best to keep the mask on if I wake up early.  Thanks for all the good advice!

You could be having the same problem that I had.

I found that humidification causes nasal congestion, and that makes it harder to breath through my nose.  The problem gets worse as the night goes on, because my nose gets more and more congested as I continue to breath in humidified air.  I solved the problem by turning the humidifier down to the lowest level, i.e. 1, and I even turn it off sometimes.

How is your humidifier set?  Have you tried reducing the level?

RE: Not Getting Back to Sleep
Last night was a little better.  I woke up and it was still a little hard to breathe, but I ignored it and kind of went back to sleep.  The problem this time is my dogter (mini-schnauzer) thought it was time to get up.  I didn't change the humidity, but I will tonight.  This time of year I tend to start getting allergies, so that could also be part of this newly developed problem.  If it's not one thing it's another!
