Another, but related problem wad discovered.  My computer tech put a new keyboard in the old laptop and discovered why I thought the computer was overheating--the fan was coated with dust and dirt and you could hardly turn the fan blades by hand.  He had to completely disassemble the computer to get to the keyboard so he laboriously cleaned, checked connections, re-installed a few things, cleaned contacts, etc.  He charged me just the $38 cost of the new keyboard--put several hours of work into it.  Brought it home Friday and of course immediately loaded my SD card in it, using the older of the 2 cards I currently use--it had quite working a few weeks ago and I started a new SD card, then the old one started working again.  I tried both cards in Oscar and both only read to 12 October.  Checked both of them in the newer laptop and both loaded last night's data, so it isn't a card problem.  SH files have been removed from the old laptop but I have them on a thumb drive--that is the one that had SH loaded for some time.  would removing OSCAR and loading fro the thumb drive solve the problem?
