OSCAR definitions

Two questions regarding OSCAR:

• Looking at the Daily Page, under the "Details" tab, there is a parameter labeled "total time in apnea". What exactly does this mean? At first glance, the answer seems self-evident. BUT when I look in the "events" tab, I can't get the times in any one category, or all categories added together, to equal "total time in apnea." I must be missing something. 
  
• Why are there some days that don't show the caption "total time in apnea"? The "events" tab suggests there were indeed some events on those days, so why no "total time in apnea"?

Good observation! Would you please post some of these days? I'm on an AirCurve and every one adds up correctly.

Are you running OSCAR 1.2.0?  On a ResMed machine, you should be able to add all of the elapsed times of Hypopnea, Obstructive, Clear Airway, and Unclassified events from the Events page to get the same as Total Time in Apnea. Hypopneas always have a zero elapsed time, so you can ignore them.

If the total is zero, then the Total Time in Apnea line is not displayed.

If I understand GuyScharf correctly, a day when there are several hypopneas but zero obstructive events or centrals, the total will be zero because Hs count as zero. Correct?

Just to confirm I am running Oscar 1.2.0.

I guess what threw me was that on such days, the caption does NOT say "total time in apnea = 0" ; the entire caption does not appear at all.

I will go look at  couple of those days and validate the arithmetic, then post the result. Thanks GuyScharf.

I have confirmed that GuyScharf was correct. (No offense, Guy, needed to satisfy my curiosity). There are nights when I have had several hypopneas but no actual apnea events, so the time in apnea is Zero. Below are two days examples. The "events" screen tells the tale = many hypopneas but no time spent in apnea.

No offense taken. I'm always happy to have what I say double-checked and (hopefully) confirmed.

If you look at my signature (bottom of the post) you can see how they classify apnea. 

To see how long a central, O is move your mouse over the mark for that event the amount in the () is the number of seconds the apnea lasted. There is no timing on flow limits. 

Add the seconds together and that should = time in apnea. If it is a little off it would be the flow limits
