OSCAR no import from SleepyHead [resolved - see post #4 & 5]

Question
OSCAR no import from SleepyHead [resolved - see post #4 & 5]
Hi,
First - thanks to the OSCAR crew and the original SleepyHead crew! As a long time software developer, I know the huge amount of high quality work that went into these, and feel a bit guilty for not contributing.

Anyway...

I just installed OSCAR on my Mac (Mojave). I don't recall seeing a choice to import SleepyHead. Anyway, then I gave OSCAR a custom directory, and got the "new Profile" page, and filled that out. I don't see a way to import from SleepyHead. The documentation suggest, although this is not clear, that you can only do this right at the new install.

So, since uninstalls on Mac are weird, I deleted the new directory and tried to start over. Still no option. I used CleanMyMac to uninstall the app. I re-installed. Still no option to import from SleepyHead.

Does the Mac version not support SleepyHead import? I have years of data not on my SD card that I'd like to keep.

Thanks Huhsign

RE: OSCAR no import from SleepyHead
I don't have a Mac so cannot test it myself, but thought the Mac version would have the migrate option.  There is a problem that if you create a directory, then you are not offered the option to migrate SleepyHead data -- we have planned a change for the next release to fix that.  In Windows, with the current version, migration is offered only if you accept the default location (your Documents directory), though you can use a different folder name.

In any event, you should be able to import the CPAP data from your SleepyHead directory into OSCAR now using the File/Import SD card data function.  The procedure is documented here in online OSCAR documentation.  You'll need to translate from Windows directories to the equivalent Mac folders.

RE: OSCAR no import from SleepyHead
Thanks.

I think why I'm not getting the initial offering of an import is that it remembers, somewhere, my first install, and maybe thus not offering the import. I deleted everything I could find, but it may have stashed it's basic startup info somewhere I didn't look. I renamed "org.oscar-team.OSCAR.plist " to something innocuous and that didn't change the behavior.

But anyway... I tried creating a profile, after which the SDCard importer was available. I used it, gave it the SleepyHeadData folder, it paused a moment, and left me back at the main window. Nothing was imported. I tried this with the subfolder "Profiles" - same thing. I tried it with the one below that in my user name (same as I used on OSCAR), same result.

So, I have been unable to get it. I don't know why it fails - there is no error message. I've tried this process a number of times, uninstalling, rebuilding my profile, etc. No joy so far.

I'd try to dig into this myself, but my Android app needs some urgent work.

A couple of minor issues that you might want to add to some list:

*It takes a double click on the import prompt to select a folder, rather than the single click.
*If the SD card is present, you cannot get to the folder prompt - it goes right to the card.

Thanks for your attention!

John

You need to select the folder named Backups. It should be in SleepyHeadData/profiles/yourname/yourmachine.

I'll log your other issues.

RE: OSCAR no import from SleepyHead
That did it. I had to import from two different directories under there - one had older data. It added that in and worked great!

BTW, I did find a way to do it with the SD Card. There is a "Specify" button that lets me go outside the SD Card and use a folder on the computer.

Thanks!

John
