Thanks everyone. These two guys were really something special. One of them was a transplanted "Brooklynite" here on the Oregon Coast. His joy was photography, and he was the state photographer for the Elks Lodge. The most difficult "fix" I ever had to do for him was when he lost his 5000 or so photos to a disk drive failure. No backup of course. I got them back, but it took a little magic.
The other guy was a small town newspaperman for his working career. He owned several newspapers when he retired. He loved to travel to weird places. Finally the day came where he wouldn't be able to do that anymore. So he amused himself becoming a "day trader" in stocks. He told me he usually only made $500 or $1000 a day so it didn't amount to much but he was having a good time.
