Ontario DME Machine Purchase Prices??

Ontario DME Machine Purchase Prices??
I have my appt with the sleep doc today and he may be writing my script then. I'm wondering about DME's in Ontario if they have free reign to raise prices beyond the approved prices

From what the RT at my DME told me for the basic price if I was buying a ResMed, I would get an S9 Escape which is dataless. I was told if I wanted to 'upgrade' from a ResMed S9 Escape to an AirSense 10 CPAP (dataless) it is an extra $200 and if I then 'upgrade' further to the Elite it's another $75.

However in this document: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/progr...manual.pdf

....it says the S9 Escape and the A10 Elite are the same price at $860. Are they trying to pull a fast one by charging me extra? The ADP covers $645, so I'm guessing I shouldn't have to pay more than $215 for the A10 Elite. Is that correct? or do they have the right to charge whatever they want?

Are all DME's in Ontario able to charge whatever they want? Or are they limited by the below referenced article and then make money selling you masks, hoses, etc?

When I was talking to ProResp, I was told that they are limited to the prices set by government so, whether the brick or data capable machine, the price is the same. Extras, like a heated hose or a better mask are... extra. We even specifically talk about A10 Elite costing the same as the basic models.

OK that's what I thought I had heard. I'm going to my sleep doc today and will try to get info from him, or his nurse, or his secretary regarding this. I want to confirm this is the case cause it was definitely not what I was told by 2 different RT's at my DME.

Definately not. They are not allowed to charge anymore provided that the machine you ask for is listed in the ADP guide.

They may want you to pay more, but according to the program, they have to offer those machines at that price.

EDIT: That being said, with the strict interpretation of the rules, there's no mention of a heated hose and/or a mask that you'd actually like. However, the machine, with a humidifier and a regular hose should not be more than the price set by the government.
