Oxygen Concentrator changed everything!
#21
RE: Oxygen Concentrator changed everything!
Hi. Nice to see some one else using an oxygen with the machine. I have oxygen and us a resmed lumis 100. I had a sleep study with just the air and my graph was all over the place. I would suffer with bad headaches all day some point. I did the half of the study with air and oxygen and graph line was level through out the night. For some reason my carbon dioxide level goes low. I have sats levels between 70-80 with a heart condition and the oxygen improves for a little bit can't retain it. As yet haven't seen the rest periods drop in the afternoon and not getting in with the machine. But the headaches aren't so bad.

You will need to talk to your doctor. This is life and death stuff and too hard for a forum.
Everything needs to be considered, too much o2 will wash the co2 and alter your Ph and bicarb, which may be happening by what you are saying. This can give you more trouble when not on o2, the system is out of balance. Did the doctor say anytime you are under 88/90% o2 should be used? did he give you an upper o2% limit?

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

I found your post very interesting. I have questioned if added oxygen would improve my sleepiness during the day. I recently read of a study that looked at this very issue, adding oxygen to cpap. To summarize, it was found that the added oxygen did not increase the quality of sleep but did raise oxygenation very slightly. Did you have to convince you pulmonary physician to let you try the oxygen?
