RE: 3 reasons to replace your CPAP mask parts regularly
Why is the link taking me directly to ResMeds web site?
With absolutely no info on the topic ...

RE: 3 reasons to replace your CPAP mask parts regularly
I am sorry but it sounds like a marketing ploy to me. Like: If we can just get everybody to get new mask supplies as often as Medicare allows we can increase our sales by 30%.
It also sounds to me like the cause and effect relationship may be just the opposite of what they are touting in the blog. Just my thoughts. PaytonA

Gee, that's scummy, even for someone in the medical mafia.
Basically, they did some sort of survey of frequent replacers vs. non-replacers. They found that the numbers in the replacer group were better for:
Well, DUHHH!!!! Let's analyze this. I suggest:
Suppose we found that young people replace parts more often than old people? How about rich people vs. poor? Home owners? Those with health insurance? Easy access to a sleep clinic? Happy with your doctor? Arrested? Paraplegics? Dead people? Replace your CPAP parts more often. It will make you younger, richer, own your own home, give you health insurance, have better doctors, and avoid arrest! If you don't replace your equipment often enough, you could lose a limb or die.
Get the free OSCAR CPAP software here.
Useful links. Click here for information on the main alternative to CPAP. If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check it yourself.

Yup.
A "survey" done on behalf of a manufacturer. Not very credible. Of course it's in the best interest of ResMed to recommend frequent parts replacement. More positive cash flow.

And their reference is, not to a peer reviewed study, but to a survey that Resmed commissioned. No details about the nature of the study or the confidence intervals or what controls were used. Just a vague and probably misleading advertisement.

They didn't choose to mention the 4th reason for frequently replacing your hardware, their cash flow. This business is full of overpricing crooks that have government protection. Yes Virginia, there really is a medical mafia.
