[Product Review] PAPcap by Pur-Sleep

RE: PapCap again
PaulaO2 it's a great review. I hadn't seen it before. I have read reviews on a large commercial site that sells cpap equipment and accessories. I think the negative comments there show that this product is either very good, or very bad depending on how it's used.

Thanks for leading me to the review section. It will be a great resource for me.

Amen to the fitting. Keep in mind how much hair you do/don't have, too. It really helped with me getting air in my mouth then puffing it out.

I don't think it would help keep a jaw closed but it might.

I got tired of all the equipment on my head and tried a full face mask for a while. Loved it but hated the leaks.

I've tried to find a ffm that works for me. I'm claustrophobic. I did try an F20 by ResMed. I managed to go a half night, but the leaks were terrible. Don't remember my AHI....

I need to work on that.

I'm not claustrophobic. I'm not claustrophobic. I'm not claustrophobic...I'm not.....

Thanks for your review.

I've bought this twice. First time was at least 5 years ago; maybe longer.
And I bought it recently.

First, I find the seller's size description confusing.  There are now two sizes. I bought a Small this time. (My hat size is 7-1/2 if that helps.)

Second, there is a velcro closer at the back. If I don't put the hat on tight like a second skin, the strap pulls the cap down in front.  It gets hard to see! :Sad And if i get up in the night and take the mask and hat off, Im toast.  I MUST put the mask back on without the hat, and that requires sleepy attempts to adjust the headgear right.

Third, setup.  PaulaO2 is right. Putting the mask on over the CPAP cap is not easy. It's not fun.

Would I buy it again? Yes.  The owner of the firm is really helpful.  This is a good product.
Normal chinstaps don't work for me. I have a collection of bad-chinstraps.

Follow up==I had more problems with fit with my 3rd PapCap. In fact I found that it would slip forward during the night, and actually covered my right eye when I woke up!
I'm not wearing the PirateCap I mean PapCap anymore.
I sent an email asking for help/recommendations to solve the problem . I never got a response.

RE: PAPcap by Pur-Sleep
After going to sleep, my jaw gets slack and causes nasal cradle masks to leak. I've proven this by using a chinstrap that is awful but stops the leaks. Mouth does not open but jaw slackens. I can't tolerate pillows. FFM doesn't help because jaw slackens beneath the FFM and causes leaks. Do you think a PAPCap would help in my case? Any feedback welcome.

I've had 3 PapCaps. Last one purchased didn't work well for me. It often slid downover my eyes and that woke me. It was the right size.
I replaced it with a Knightsbridge Dual Strap. It's better made. I've had mixed results using the Knightsbridge. I *think* that I have to be extremely careful putting it on. Would I buy a KDS again? Probably. Would I buy a PapCap again? No.
