RE: Plmnb - the journey continues now with ST-A.
Hi Phoebe, well the numbers look quite good but the other half, the aspect of how you feel is not addressed unfortunately. At least you were able to change docs to attempt to get this resolved. Stay safe and best wishes on success soon.

Good to see you back again. The charts look good, and we can see where the iVAPS increases pressure support correlates with the intense flow limits. Your sleep time in this case is continuous and 6-hours in duration which is an improvement. I don't have any suggestions on changes, and hope the parasomnia and other issues eventually wind down with your therapy.

RE: Plmnb - the journey continues now with ST-A.
Hello Sleeprider.  Thank you for the message regarding how I'm doing.  Hello again everyone!

Unfortunately things are not so great at the moment.  I had to turn in my ST-A which was working pretty well.  Not perfect, but better than any of the other machines.  My health insurance company did not do an adequate job of explaining what the ST-A machine would cost me each month and it turned out to be more of an expense than I could handle.  So I'm not sleeping very well at all at this time.  (Strangest thing though, is I am now dreaming every night.  I didn't even dream WITH the machine and haven't had dreams for a million years.). But now I wake up at least 4 times a night (that I know of) and have clear recollections of my dreams.  I wonder why I didn't dream with any of my machines.  Thinking-about I do have the headaches again, stupid low oxygen Sad

My husband says I still sit up and sleep, I even fell out of bed recently...that hurt.  Skinned my knee but luckily didn't hit my head on the bedside table.  As was mentioned a while ago, the sleep sitting IS a form of sleepwalking.  The medication that was supposed to help with this did not work.

I do have a good development, my meralgia seems to be subsiding quite a bit, this is DEFINITELY a positive.

I have been looking around online for used ST-A machines and the prices are still out of my reach at this time.  Luckily I haven't been working quite as many late shifts, so falling asleep at work hasn't been too big of a problem, same with my driving at night.  I do get complaints from my husband though that I fall asleep too early.

Anywho....I will persevere through this.  I hope everyone else is continuing to find the wonderful help that this board provides and I will try to not be a stranger so long again.

Cool

GREAT! to see you again. It's been a long time. Which machine are you using since turning in the ST-A?

Welcome back! I found an S9 ST-A for $500 on Dotmed. The run hours weren't listed though. If you could specify a top limit of what you would consider would really help. It would also prevent a flood of machines being listed that are totally out of consideration.

RE: Plmnb - the journey continues now with ST-A.
Howdy!

Unfortunately the only machine that seemed to work at all for me was the ST-A so it really doesn't make sense to go back to the CPAP or BiPap machines that I had.  So for now I am sans machine and surviving best I can.

Any money I can save up for at this point really needs to go towards a surgery for my husband, he has a very painful umbilical hernia we need to take care of first, this is my priority.

I have been looking every now and then for a used or refurbished St-A just for the heck of it and they aren't so cheap, so such is life.  Rolleyes

Miss talking with you all and will try not to be such a stranger.  You are all a great support system!

Best Wishes,
Plmnb

Hi Crimson!

Wow, that is a great price.  But I believe my machine was a S10 ST-A.  Do you know off hand what the difference is between the s9 and s10?  At $500 or there about I MIGHT be able to have my family help me out.

Regards,
Plmnb

PS. I need to find my paperwork and see exactly what the description of the model was that I had before ya'll check things out for me. Smile

Algorithm and therapy is similar or the same. The form-factor is different with separate flow generator and humidifier. Works with OSCAR

I believe this was the machine: AirCurve 10 ST-A BiLevel With Humidifier By ResMed

This had the IVAPS mode correct?

The various sites have such confusing names and descriptions.

Do I need to be aware of the different form-factor and separate flow generator?  Is one machine better than the other?  Is the S9 just an older model?

Appreciate your input,
Plmnb
