Well I suppose we could, but it's never been an issue around here. The coastal plain is mainly flat(ish) and sandy, and the fires are all on the coastal plain. There is a low escarpment inland from the coast with granitic and lateritic soils, so in theory there could be mud slides, but as I said it's never been a problem.
