Great! Now don't forget to pull the plug if you anticipate a power outage, or buy a surge protector.

Yes, this may stretch "honesty"... I would NOT mention any possible power surge, since that may void the warranty (read the fine print, warranties differ). Just tell them what happened...you were out, came home to go to bed, and it wasn't working (which actually is the truth).
