[Pressure] ASV/ hyperventilation/ UARS
#1
ASV/ hyperventilation/ UARS
I am trying my ASV machine again after some other treatments. I have UARS and mild apnea.
Why do I wake up feeling like I am hyperventilating. The machine is making me breathe too fast. Or I suppose I started breathing too slow or too fast for the machine and the machine counteracts or continues this pattern. I wish I had an Auto Bipap. I do not like being made to breathe at a certain speed. Yeah I know that’s part of it but I am trying to use use it for the comfort factor.
Any ideas on how to change settings to stop the machine encouraging this speedy breathing.
Last night my settings were:
EPAP 4
Min PS 2
Max PS 7

RE: ASV/ hyperventilation/ UARS
the ASV matches your recent breathing rate so blow back hard to reset then just breathe at a comfortable "slower" pace. After a couple of minutes, the rate is mostly set. ASV will maintain a steady Minute Vent, the volume of your (I believe) previous 90 seconds. The ASV IS an Auto BiPap.

Since you are using it for the comfort you may want to try, and this is a guess since you have provided no detailed data, setting Min PS = Max PS and not to exceed 4.

Please post your OSCAR Daily charts so we can see what is going on.
NOTE: ASV may not be the right machine for you since it seems to increase flow limitations and your main diagnosis is UARS I assume. Again please post your charts so the advice we give is not a WAG.
