[Pressure] Need opinions on my flow rate please
#51
RE: Need opinions on my flow rate please
As long as your results with CPAP are comfortable and the centrals have come down to a mnageable level, then there is no need to consider a different machine, and you would be unlikely to be considered a candidate for ASV. There are enough people that resolve central apnea with CPAP that it is worth trying as a solution, rather than moving straight to a more expensive machine. Our experience is that the central apnea can be "consistently inconsistent", so if they reemerge, then you can reconsider. Congrats on being one of the lucky ones.

Sounds good and thank you, I wasn’t sure they were going to at first since there duration was increasing. Thankfully they did

A lot of central apnea in CPAP therapy comes from arousals and sleep disturbance, but they are usually minimal duration events. I suppose it's possible, once you took care of therapy discomfort like flow limitation and optimized pressure, that the centrals just went away with that.

Ok. Last night I had 1 but that’s when I woke up from my alarm so that doesn’t count. The night before I had 3 which were barely able to count at 11 secs a piece towards the end of the session. And last nights flow limitations only started up when I had a leak. The rest of the time there wasn’t anything at all. 2 weeks ago I was blindly playing with EPR not touching the minimum pressure watching my centrals and total AHI go all over the place. Now I understand how and why to tweak settings to get rid of OSA, CSA and flow limitations. And how to make sure my flow rate, minute ventilation and tidal volume are in the green check box so to speak. Can’t thank you guys and ladies enough!

That was quick lol. I love the science behind the whole process so I dove right in. Far from an expert but I think I have a handle on my setup now

If I were to bet, you probably know more on settings than sleep specialist Dr. Duck.
