[Pressure] Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
Is this sleep marathon running? Wow...95% Respiration Rate of 50...I am not in a place to say this is good or bad but it is pretty unique. My own RR has recorded times of 8, 10 12 most nights I was able to use the ASV and I'm COPD among other uniqueness attributes...

I like the Sheepless theory. Something is causing respiration to be extremely disrupted. We can see the underlying inhale/exhale, but the rapid oscillations within that pattern would be almost impossible without some kind of seizure, spasm or movement. We have a wiki on cardiogenic oscillations, but this is really not similar. It might take a night vision camera to figure out. Counting the peaks results in an approximate 60 cycles per minute or one per second. I cannot think of anyway to recreate that.

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
Well i feel kind of special now, but i'm guessing it's not in a really good sort of way Sad I just looked at the Titration Report or Sleep Report and no PLM was detected at all.

I do have AFIB and am getting looked at again in the very immediate future, with a cardioversion being done soon. I will show the charts to a lung specialist and see what their comments are regarding the breathing. I'm thinking dyspnea from heart issue, obesity and minor COPD. (Hyperinflated Lungs) Also anxiety is an issue i believe.

I do have hyper inflated lungs from smoking in years gone by and minor COPD. I hope that none of these issues are getting worse and that I can have it sorted out in the coming weeks or months.

At this point in time......hopefully we have the CPAP issues heading in the right direction. Smile

Don't take my comment as anything but info exchange, but my COPD requires me to get yearly Pulmonary Function Tests to record where I'm at regarding advancement of the disease. You might want to ask doc if you should get that done to track the illness.

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
I certainly will do and thank you for the advice .

He did listen to the lungs when i was there 2 weeks back and he said they sounded ok and i asked him about a comment made on the sleep report about respirotory failure and just check correlation and he said it was fine because of this, this and that and he showed me on an oxygen chart / graph from that evening.

But I like i said, i have little to know faith in him.

Thanks again.

If there's any info I can share, just ask.

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
I have no intention of diagnosing this anomaly, but thought it might be helpful to read the Cardiogenic Oscillations wiki. Cardioballistic artifacts are something we can, and often see in charts, however not to the degree they may be present in yours. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...cillations Given the fact an EKG is very inexpensive, fast and easy to perform, I think you should for peace of mind.

In spite of the machine detecting a very high respiration rate, your minute vent was steady. So we know this is not really a respiratory artifact. I think you could email this image to your doctors, both the cardiologist and pulmonologist, along with a view of the respiratory flow rate for the entire night. This is not a sleep apnea issue, but one that needs to be looked as as a symptom of something else that is causing a noticeable echo in your respiratory flow recording. Since you have AFIB, I think when you see this kind of problem, it pays to be on the safe side and get looked at immediately. I don't want to be alarming, but I have seen thousands of charts, and this is unique.

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
I am currently in AFIB and I am waiting to get a cardio version to try and put me back into sinus rhythm. In fact it should be within the next 2 weeks. I had a EKG and battery of tests 3 weeks ago and it showed significant improvement in Ejection Fractions etc and that is why he wanted to Cardiovert me.

The information may be very important to his plans so I will print the chart out and take it to the Cardio person today. I appreciate the advice, thank you.

@Sleeprider

Just letting you know I did A3 colour printouts of the week of charts and took them all down to the Cardio Specialists office. (He shares rooms with the Respiratory Specialist.) He is in tomorrow and the receptionist assures me that she will give them to him Smile

Thanks again for the advice, no harm in being proactive and taking precautions. Smile
