RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
If the pattern we observed here is indicative of AFIB, then you will have helped others. Please follow up so we can hopefully associate this pattern with something that may help others. I hope you are safe and well.

I agree your thread is closely related, especially from this point http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-...#pid374130 If we compare the images, there are apparent differences, particularly in the more pronounced oscillation and higher frequency in Snook's charts as compared to yours. I have no doubt the same cardiac echo is responsible, but since we know this individual is headed for a cardio version, I think his chart may reflect a more serious problem. The images are at very different zoom levels and are difficult to compare. I'll post them for comparison purposes below. It would be interesting to see how Snooks chart might change with a similar zoom of 1.25 minutes vs the 5-minutes he posted. With the same zoom, they may look very close. Multicast's chart Snooks:

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
A bit of news but you also have to "read between the lines".
So i took those printouts to the Cardiac Spec as mentioned. They went in Friday and receptionist give them to the CS Saturday at his other surgery 40 miles away. (assumption). I just put a note on the print outs asking if i should be concerned about the Resp Rate and if so, I will be on my phone all weekend. I didn't get a call and was not sure how to feel. Monday morning now...........9.04 and my phone rang. Nepean Hospital Cardiac Section has rung, I am to go in Thursday at 10am for a Cardio Version, that being they stop the heart, Defib you and try and get you back into Sinus Rythm. So yes, i was told 3 weeks ago he wanted me in for the CV, but the fact it came up as it did, I think that we can assume that the print outs have possibly resulted in the phone call this morning. I will obviously get to talk to him in the hospital, he is a great guy and very trustable. The sort of person you like as soon as you meet him. So as to possibly assist others, if there is any specific questions you would like me to ask him about the RESP RATE and what it shows, what it is truly reflecting etc, so that it can improve the forums WIKI or your personal knowledge, please private message them to me and i will do the best that i can in gaining the information. If it can help someone else, that would be one significant benefit of this issue. I have attached last nights print out, still the RESP RATE is odd, we are getting on top of CA's and hopefully all else is ok. Thanks for your time and support, it does make you feel better knowing there are some people on your side

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
I'm glad you'll be getting in more quickly for the procedure. Afterwards, I'd love to know what the specialist said about your breathing pattern, and I'd love to know whether it settled down after the procedure. Ideally, people will write with questions here in the thread so the answers can be seen by others. That's one of the ways we build our collective knowledge.
Thanks so much for the update, and all the best for the procedure, Snooks.

I hope it goes well too. 2 1/2 days to worry about it

Hi Dormeo, I meant to clarify that the only reason i said to PM was so i could print them out easily. I have no issues people reading anything in here, its only fair if i can help someone with info that i do so, i mean, look how much people are helping me. This is an amazing resource and without it i almost certainly would have failed. Last nights results show the improvement Cheers.

RE: Newbee - 1st Evening Failure
Snooks, I think your therapy is clearly very effective with few apnea or hypopnea. The fact your respiration rate is pegged near 50 is an artifact of cardioballistic effects on your respiration. What I would like is a simple opinion by your cardiologist whether cardiogenic oscillations visualized on your CPAP flow rate is a reasonable indicator of AFib. Beyond that, I hope to see what this looks like after your cardioversion.
