Pressure keeps going up but higher AHI?!

RE: Pressure keeps going up but higher AHI?!
I think they may have already tried auto. I know they have changed around with the setting numerous amounts but I lost track of what they where changing it to and was just seeking results.
I have changed it to what you said and will see what the outcome is.

Have you yourself got complex apnea or spoken to anyone on this board who has?

RE: Pressure keeps going up but higher AHI?!
Last I posted was when you were concerned about the costs and I suggested getting a referral to outpatients of you local hospital, where it is all free, including overnight sleep studies. The aussie system is superb for this and they will do it all for you, including the machine adjustment. If you have a pensioner/concession health card, a free machine if needed. As you may have gathered from the forum, the US system can be a different kettle of fish.

I can understand your timidity, but if you aren't prepared to experiment with your settings, like sleeprider suggested, switching to auto is really a no brainer. It really is a pointless exercise and you would be better working with your doctors.
The forum can provide background information to educate yourself about apnea.

Have you bought the machine yet or are you on a trial?

The settings in your machine and possibly the model of machine, aren't working for you and you should ring your doctor.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

I have innumerable posts on this forum regarding complex apnea.  My post inferred that might be a direction to take your therapy if we can't find settings that resolve your excessive events.  It's not an easy path to obtain approval for an adaptive servo ventilator (ASV), but it is extremely effective for those that have complex and central apnea, with a somewhat higher level of success being those using the Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV.  Your event rate would justify further evaluation, and possibly ASV titration.  You have mixed events, however it is not "typical" of complex apnea, and part of the reason for trying auto CPAP is to see your response to changing pressures, and even EPR.  These features may improve your OSA which is the immediate goal, but could also make your CA and H events worse.  If that is what evolves from my suggestion, then the next step was to evaluate for complex sleep apnea.   So, I actually had this in mind, and I'm glad you're aware of the possibility.  Have you discussed it with your doctor?

I know this is a one of the iussue's if you don't use cpap, but wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

I cant think as clearly as i did when I was in my 20's I feel like each year I am becoming dumb and dumber.

In a word, yes. I feel like I'm 30 going on 90. Hell, I've been told by a doctor a while ago after taking a cognitive test over these concerns, that I'd have dementia within 15 years if I didn't start getting better sleep. The cognitive decline is real. Brain fog, too tame a term. But we gotta keep fighting the good fight and in our desperation find an answer.

Its a horrible disease - I honestly wish there was more they could do.
I feel your pain! It feels like we have missed out on such much good quality of life doesn't? And so many people who don't suffer from it have no idea what we have to go through. From early teenanger  years I remember everyone thinking I was just lazy and had no motivation.
In your head you have all the motivation to do things, its just very hard when your body hasn't had a good rest in years!

I hope one day they can find a cure - I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy Sad

Where in Australia can you get a free machine if you have a pension card? Not in Victoria.

AFAIK It's a federal system, my sister got her's for free this way. Through the outpatient system of her public hospital. I don't know if you can access this through a private doctor, but I see no reason why it couldn't be.  As you may know, you can get free hearing aids through a private audiologist. I would ring and make enquiries. With a health care card you can get equipment that's seen as medically needed.
