Yes. We use it to refer to the companies that provide the equipment such as Apria and Lincare. on line suppliers are not DMEs as the term is used here.

Online suppliers are our friends (pretty much). Brick and mortar suppliers (DMEs) not so much although there are some good ones.

Anyone actually know why the DME's remove the cards? They are too cheap for them to sell off I think.

I ask that same question myself. When I got my S8 VPAP there was no card in the slot. Of course back then it was a proprietary card.
