Problem with my knob - RP System One
I have a Philips Respironics System One RemStar Auto with A-Flex (550P).
Last night the knob decided it didn't want to work correctly.
I cannot get it to adjust to the settings for the heated water chamber and when it is off I cannot not get it to correctly turn to the other selections, such as "info", "Settings" and so on.
I finally got it set on "Therapy" and decided to leave it on “0” for the heated chamber before it got stuck on 3 or 4. LOL
The knob turns but the selections don’t want to light up as a choice to set it on.
Has anyone else had this problem before? And was it an expensive fix?
It is under warranty and the DME said it would have to be sent off to be looked at, to see what it will cost to fix. I have this machine paid off.

Hi mikael26288,
Did you try turning off the machine and unplugging it for a minute or so, and then plugging it back in to see if that helped?
Sometimes they get in a funk and that can take care of it, Dontknow, but it might be worth a try.
Hang in there for more suggestions.

Thanks for the idea, but that didn't work.

"Problem with my knob" .... didn't know at first where this thread was going. Was wondering if I was on the right forum.

OMyMy In my mind's eye, I see Garth saying to Wayne from SNL's Wayne's World: "He said knob... < snicker snicker >"
@mikael26288,
Just to check, when you use the dial to select an option, you dial to the option you want to change, click the knob, dial to your preferred selection, then click the knob again to confirm the selection, correct? If this is what you're doing and not having success, and the machine is new, take it in to the place where you got it and show them what's going on. If they can reproduce the problem and it still doesn't work, you probably need to return the machine for a new one. If they can make it work, ask them to show you the trick to making it work.
Good luck.

DreamDiver,
You are correct on how that knob is used on the PR System One machine.
I also agree with what you said about taking the machine back to the place you got it to see if there IS a trick.

I do get patients all the time complaining of problems with their knob, but then again, I am neither a DME nor a sleep specialist. I would much prefer seeing your knob problem then the ones I get faced with.
When in doubt reboot. If that doesn't work, well, it is a sensitive and finely tuned machine - hit it with a hammer. If that doesn't work, bring it back. I find generally that threatening it works - they want to be noticed and not taken for granted...

Doc, your treatment methods are... unorthodox.
