[Product Review] Resmed AirFit P10

RE: Resmed AirFit P10
The strap is supposed to be designed to STRETCH out, try stretching it out or placing it on something a little larger all day.

I never did get a clear read on whether there is a size difference in the For Women strap. (I think not.)

Women may have smaller heads on average but larger hair volume too.

I am a good size guy and it fits perfect, but then I am bald so no extra padding. Smile

Thanks @grammabear and @herbm for your replies! I will try stretching it out during the day, I did move it around to find the loosest fit.

RE: Resmed AirFit P10
I believe the loosest fit is with the 'split straps' TOGETHER and then over the smallest part of your head+hair.

I am completely bald so for me the strap runs RIGHT above my ears.

It would work a little lower, i.e., over my ears, but having my ears pinned down is not as comfortable.

After one month plus, I may wake up and wonder if it is still on my face. It is ALMOST unnoticeable, and virtually silent (in a room with a fan running across the room.)

Literally, I cannot tell if the air is even blowing without checking (I open my mouth a little and let out a little puff of air under pressure when it bugs me -- a couple of times per week.)

If the pillow shifts, and there is a leak by my nose then THAT is obvious and I just fix it.

It may already be in this thread, but in any case I wrote it elsewhere but: Leaving the pillows ALONE is the BEST method IF you have them position and don't knock them out of contact.

A little bit of skew or misalignment is best handled by gently centering the strap (either with hands or by snuggling into the pillow for the correct direction) and by pressing gently on the hose fitting to sort of press it again the upper lip area and ensure it is straight.

Most nights, I can go ALL NIGHT without readjusting or even fiddling with it. Best not to fiddle.

Last night, I even went to the bathroom and back without moving the mask.

(I don't like to drink water with it in place so usually it is pulled down around my neck when getting up, but last night thirst wasn't an issue.)

My wife had a tube of "Lanolin" cream, advertised as being useful for nursing mothers.

Putting a SLIGHT bit of that on my nose at the opening made the mask more comfortable and might even have had a VERY SLIGHT gluing effect to hold it in place -- pretty sure that lanolin was one of the ingredients in the sticky part of a band-aid.

It's definitely better if the pillows don't shift AND you don't fiddle with them.

BTW: The small pillows almost certainly lower my AHI another point or two on average (vs. the medium size.)

My 7-day average is now AHI 0.2 (from an AHI 49 diagnosis.)

RE: Resmed AirFit P10
I have used the Swift FX for almost four years with 100% compliance. the only problem was leaks due to strap slipping up the back of my head during the night and while sleeping on my side. I have used the AirFit P10 for about a month now and couldn't be happier. Absolutely NO leaks no matter how I lay or toss and turn. With the Swift, I initially had a lot of problems keeping my mouth shut, having been a mouth breather all my life. When I started therapy, I couldn't stand the nasal or full face masks since they would never seal all night. I tried about a dozen to no avail. I reluctantly tried the Swift and, over time, trained myself to keep my mouth shut during sleep. The the revised Tap-Pap came out I tried it and it eliminated all my leak problems. It took about a week to be comfortable with the dental fitting but the problem seemd to be that, due to the support mechanism which passes between your lips, though thin, my mouth breathing began to return.

I love the AirFit P10. I can't imagine any mask being more comfortable and easy to use.

RE: Resmed AirFit P10
I switched from the Nuance Pro to the AirfitP10 because of the strong exhaust of the Pro. The Airfit is much, much better. It doesn't matter that there is no swivel, and I use a home-made hanger (3 M product) to direct my tubing up and over the head of my bed. No problems for the Airfit.

No leaks while side sleeping, no marks on my face, no pressure of headgear on my cheeks, and best of all, no more cold air blowing on me or my hubby.

Like others, when I first started using the Airfit, I would find myself checking to see if everything was still on and working. You can barely feel any exhaust airflow. Any leaks fix quickly with a little tug. Even the leaks, and there are not many times I have leaks, are quieter than the Nuance Pro exhaust was for me.

I need to order a new mask and think I will give this one a try. I love the Nuance, though.

RE: Resmed AirFit P10
Are any women out there using the P10? I notice all the reviews are by men.
My concern is the unadjustable head gear -I tried the Pilaro and it felt sloppy.

Yes, women are using it. Women have smaller heads but more hair on average.

I really hope they don't stop offering the P10 pretty much as is, but it would be nice if they offered a version or add-on adjustable headgear.

Just a LITTLE more than MINIMALIST. One strap with some velcro maybe.

I am currently using the P10 for the last several months. I wear my hair short and recently got a haircut. I did notice a very slight difference in the way my mask fits, but it is easily compensated by moving the straps a little further apart. When I first started with this mask, I had the same concerns as you. I didn't understand how it could possibly fit well without any adjustable straps. I believe the P10 comes in two models, one for men and one for women. Prior to the AirFit P10 I used the Swift Fx for Her mask.
