Pulse ox 64% event help please
I just did my first night on a recording pulse oximeter and it reported that at one point my o2 went down to 64% and my pulse was above 120 bpm.... how worried should I be and what do I do now?
I am on an s9 series cpap everynight with the cpap pro nasal mask. Diagnosed in 2010 ... have used cpap 100% since with no improvement. The last time I went to the sleep specialist he said the machine looked fine and he didn't know why I was still having issues and tried to put be on uppers during the day YUCK!

Let your sleep specialist know, they may want to add night time oxygen.
I had similar challenges, and am now on O2 at 2.5 liters at night only.

What the doctor means in saying "the machine looked fine"
How the machine looked or the amount of data gathered by the machine
If by the data, he cannot tell much ... S9 Escape Auto is not full data capable machine and an APAP (not AutoSet) ... two different machines even if looked the same
Because the machine does not shows any detailed data, you cannot tell if O2 dip due to some apnea events, leaks, or something else

Personally I wouldn't be worried about a single event, especially considering it was the very first time using the oximeter. I'd run the test again for a few more nights and if the same thing showed up, then I'd definitely get together with the sleep doc about it. I'd also use that opportunity to try and get the doc to change your machine prescription to a fully data capable machine.

if it is a one time event and your AHI is less than 5 you may be okay. If you desaturate every night lower than 90 I would begin to worry. You might have had a hyponea due to a mask leak and desaturated that one time. If it happens many times during the night you need to discuss this with your doctor and show him your oximeter results.
Since your machine is not data capable we have no way of knowing if you are having hyponeas, obstructive or central apneas.

Thanks to everyone who has replied.... I don't think I have a way of knowing my ahi with my current machine. The pulse oximeter is the cms50f also just fyi. Has anyone had any problems with this pulse ox? Any tips on things to look for in the data it gives you? Also when I go back to the sleep doctor if I can in any way afford it I am getting a new machine that is the data kind..... not sure if insurance will cover it or not since I have had this machine only a little over 3 years...

I got down that low on my Pulse Oximeter and no one freaked out. I was "Ok".
But of course I have OSA and am now doing xPAP therapy.
So it wasn't good for my -- or your -- healthy, we can treat it.

FYI? How 'long' did the event last? Make sure the clocks on your machine, Oximeter, and computer all match. You *can* have random glitches/noise, etc if you move the sensor when you turn over in your seep - stuff like that.
On the Oximeter report, look for average, low average, number of minutes under 88% - those are what I watch, and my PCP wants to know. I (sadly) drop 3-4X nightly below 50 - but never for over 30 seconds.

with no improvement, I would think you wouldn't have any issues getting a different machine. I had a S9 Elite for 2 1/2 years with no improvement. Then I got a S9 Auto Set and had it for 4 month with no improvement. Then I got a VPAP 1 month ago. My insurance covered them but the first one had already been paid for and the 2nd and the one I have now are rentals so the insurance company didn't have a problem.
Do you have the same insurance company that purchased your Escape? If not, your new insurance company shouldn't have an issue but you might have to get a sleep study first. YMMV as all insurance companies have different requirements.
AND, if you don't feel as though your sleep doc is listening or isn't being truthful, you may consider finding another one.
