Question re: Virtuox Ultra test with RemStar Auto A-Flex tonight. Help, please.
My father's current CPAP is a Philips RemStar Auto A-Flex, System One. (We are waiting for a new ResMed.)

The DME sent over a Virtuox VPOD Ultra GSI, for an oxygen test tonight. I found out about this just before it arrived.

It is a sort of pulse oximeter attached to a wristband monitor.

Instructions are to use it for at least two hours, and preferably all night.

The respiratory therapist from the DME said that the pulmonologist's office told her that my father's setting on the CPAP is 7. He uses one liter of oxygen.

What is that level 7? What does it mean?

Will it disturb the test if I keep the humidifier set at 0? (I have the humidifier set at zero for two reasons: room humidity is 60% or above, and I do not want to add humidity to the degrading foam.

I put distilled water in the humidifier tank, but it is set at zero. I wash it out, and put new water in it every few days.

Is there anything I need to do" Anything I need to not do?

I will be up during the night to make sure the oximeter stays on and to see if the meter is still on.

Thanks very much.

The "7" is the air pressure, measured in centimeters of H2O. This is expressed as 7 cm/H2O. This pressure is usually considered the minimum pressure for an adult. Any lower will make a person feel as if they are suffocating.
