If it is possible that the switch is mechanical and can be permanently left in the "ON" position, just use an on/off switch at the plug, using an extension cord if necessary.

Pull the SD card and try powering up without it. You may have been lucky and the internal Lithium battery protect circuits kicked the battery off while the machine was writing to the card.

If the machine starts up without the card, slap the card into your computer to verify it is corrupt. If it is, try a checkdisk on it ... if that fails then format or replace.
