Received CPAP machine from Apria with 699 hours on it!

RE: Received CPAP machine from Apria with 699 hours on it!
bdsc64,
You are not alone when it comes to a DME giving out used equipment.  The same happened to me in 2014 when first diagnosed. Unbeknownst to me, my Apap had over 700 run hours on it.  At the time, I hadn't yet found this forum, so didn't know any better to check on run hours.

After joining here and reading posts, I soon discovered that I had been deceived by my DME. Sad   I actually signed a paper stating this was a "new" machine.  I guess their version of new and mine were different.

After calling my DME, I explained what I discovered, and asked for a "new" 0 hour machine.  They were surprised that I found the blower hours, but didn't argue.
Within a week, they delivered a brand new APAP.

Good Luck with your therapy.

bonjour,
Just want to say "thanks" to you and all others that are helping with this Wiki article.  It is quite good, in depth and is very much needed here!

After getting run round from Apria overseas-outsourced customer service Oh-jeez , I called my insurance company, and they called Apria and they immediately agreed to send me a machine with 0 run hours.

It took them a few days to call me back and arrange delivery, but I finally received replacement today!

Thanks to everyone who replied and offered advise/knowledge of how to deal with DME, and as well as all the other helpful posts in general in these forums.

Thanks

I love happy endings

Sleep-well

I will suggest that you do post your charts.  Odds are that we would be able to suggest tweaks that would improve tour treatment.  You can either implement them or talk to your Dr.
