I want to get a recording oximeter so I can track my apnea in addition to AHI and periodic breathing.
Will medicare cover this. What is a decent model for home use, not commercial use.
Thanks, Stan

Recording oximeter for overnight use
Hello the forum, Seems most here are trusting the AHI and periodic breathing numbers presented by their cpap / BiPaP machines. I had an AHI around 4.5 when I used the labss recording oximeter overnight, then found my oxygen went down to 79%. I lost a lot of confidence in AHI's from that experience.

Welcome to the Forum!
Try Supplier #19 for overnight recording oximeters. This one seems to be popular, CMS-50F Recording Wrist Oximeter. [attachment=3450] Also, download the #SleepyHead software to track your therapy. Medicare doesn't normally cover oximeters.

I asked my doctor to prescribe the home model discussed, and they said these are not considered medical grade, so not a prescribable item. So, I just bought one - I wanted to know.
remember the AHI is a count of events severe enough to consider. But, there are different lengths for events. You know - if I have 1 event but 12 minutes long - that is more of a problem than 36 that are 20 seconds long. One is terminal. he he. QAL

RE: Recording oximeter for overnight use
if you purchase CMS50K, we just rolled out the SleepO2 an Android App which works with Contec CMS50K wearable Oximeter.
You can search in Google Play for the App. The App also integrates with Fitbit. |
