Repairing an imported unit (US to Australia)

RE: Repairing an imported unit (US to Australia)
"ResMed launched in 1989 when founder Peter Farrell sought to expand the general public’s access to CPAP treatment. The company was founded in Australia in 1989, but relocated to San Diego in 1990"

Search for Resmed Wiki - I'm a few posts short of URL entitlements  Cool

Most suppliers will discount down from the listed prices. ( mine was under $1,500 including the hose and mask )

I get full support from the clinic I purchased it from, including the data downloaded and sent to my respiratory specialist so he can sign off on my commercial driver licence medical compliance when required.
The machine is also covered by warranty here in Australia, and they would supply me with a loan unit if mine requires repair or replacement at any time.

Resmed ( who are actually an Australian based company here in NSW ) and Philips Respironics are the ones who restrict overseas CPAP suppliers from selling to Australia, as usual we get ripped off on pricing here... just because they can do it to us.

Don't ever get me started on this topic when it comes to motorcycle prices and parts..  Oh-jeez Too-funny Too-funny Too-funny Laugh-a-lot

there are a few offering DS APAP for $1675aud at the moment, which is a bit cheaper than $1900aud a couple of months ago.
the DS CPAP is $1250aud.
seems like you got a good deal, those prices i quoted don't include any masks.
i got my DS APAP from usa for $513aud + $79aud postage = $592aud all up.
i don't usually buy goods overseas because of warranty, but that was too hard to pass up.
we are ripped off over here.

I bought mine from USA, at less than half the price it is in Aus  about 3 years ago
and have never had an issue with it...I did have to buy the power plug tho
as it comes with the USA fitting, but that was only a few $$$
good luck  with whatever you decide...

I should have mentioned that mine is the APAP Dreamstation, and I got the F&P Eson mask included in the purchase price. ( and I don't really want to say exactly how much below $1,500 my price was.. the clinic took sympathy on my personal situation after my accident, and the fact that I was paying it all out of my own pocket due to no support from my employer due to me being a casual employee )

There is also no consultation fee or charge whenever I visit the clinic so they can download and review may machine data, although they can also download remotely if I don't want to go in to the clinic.

I have a Resmed Autosense 10 (imported) USA machine that is only 11 months old (2000 hours) and the bearing in the motor is extremely noisy under load. I purchased it second hand so no original receipt. Resmed here in Australia want $600 to repair it. So I dont think its worth repairing. The day of the throway machine has arrived.
Resmed here in Oz had no problems with the fact that this was a US machine, they would still repair it, if I was willing to pay for it.

That is right up there with the cost of a new machine in the U.S. through some online channels. I guess the value of a pneumatic block repair is dependent on replacement cost where you live. I agree $600 is high, but a new machine may cost twice that in AU. There are independent repair providers. Supplier #27 and Supplier #28 could provide estimates for your repair if you want. Shipping would be additional.
