ResMed AirFit™ N30i Nasal Cradle CPAP Mask Trial

RE: ResMed AirFit™ N30i Nasal Cradle CPAP Mask Trial
Plakky, yep a book light is in my future. The thing I like about a head lamp is, no turning on lights when I get up to pee. A friend drove ambulance for years and said the number of people who crashed at home in the dark when getting up to pee is just huge.

Another great night last night! Ooooh la la! This cradle style may work after all. Tres comfortable. And over two nights, fewer leaks than with my P10 and certainly than with other full masks.

hegel - Encouraging to hear your N30i is working so well!  And also good point about falling at night.  We have strategically-placed motion sensor night lights plugged into outlets in almost every room and hallway in the house for that very reason.

I'm going to take the loaned mask back. N30i. Some time I'll try the P30i. the Respironics headgear hack interests me.

masks between Respironics and ResMed are so similar. Surely they are designed by the same people...

Got the p301 large nasal pillow/prong the day after I ordered it from (supplier not on list--Kaiser's supplier). the thing is, the cushion for the n30i was working so well, I had no real reason to try the new pillow/prong.. But I did, for a little reading in bed at 2 in the afternoon. Now, I can't figure how to swap it out again. I feel like I'm going to break this new mask trying to remove the nasal pillows. So I left it on for last night. Another very good night! very low leak rate and ahi under 1, again. So, three excellent nights in a row with no real issues is beginning to look like a trend. I hope so; this is a very good mask for me.

Wait, I did have the back strap come up on my head at one point last night. I have fairly long hair and try to snug the strap under that, which usually works. I think I read Plakky say that she wrapped a knee brace wrap around the strap and that helped. I'll try that.

I have recently figured out the right trick for me to get the back strap secure. (If you've ever put on a bandana over your head, you will get this.) Pull the mask down so that the headgear is around your neck -- with the back of the headgear in the back, cushion and top strap go in front under your chin. Pull your hair out over the back strap. Pull the top strap up past your face to the top of your head.

This pulls the sides of the headgear up past your ears. The back ends up underneath your hair which holds it down and holds the top strap into place, too.

(Sorry bald guys, no help for you!)

To return to the vary first question -- what is the difference in the machine settings between nasal and pillows? I never found the part in the manual that says that the N30i is pillows not nasal, and so I had selected "nasal" when I used the N30i and "pillows" when I used the P30i.

Does the machine calculate anything differently (like leak for example)
