You understand incorrectly.

APAP responds to obstructive events After the event occurs by increasing pressure

ASV, to manage central events, maintains a constant volume, minute Vent with ResMed, based on a moving average of the volume by manipulating the PS to maintain that volume on the same breath that volume is decreasing and in so doing prevents a central apnea from happening.  ASV still depends on EPAP pressure to manage obstructive events

Another question, basic on Sleep Apnea:

Our goal is to get AHI down to below 5, and an AHI <5 from a sleep study will as far as I understand not even result in a sleep apnea diagnosis.
Does that mean that a majority of people out there would score >0 but <5 on a sleep study?
Or is it so that the average person, defined as the median, has an AHI of 0, but an AHI <5 is just considered such a minor issue that it is not in need of treatment?
What I am saying is that if we took a sleep study test on the entire population of the earth, what would the median AHI be? (average will obviously be >0, but median?)

And - if the median human being has an AHI score of 0.5, 1, 3 or whatever - are those only OA, or does the median human being have a few CA every night as well?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am just eager to learn and hoping that someone with the knowledge will take the time to answer.

Cheers!
