To confirm H5i function, complete the following steps;

1. Disconnect ClimateLine tubing and remove the water tub.
2. Place your hand on the heater plate to assess the temperature of the H5i heater plate while the S9 is not running. Do not place your hand on the heater plate if the H5i has been running in the 10 minutes prior to this test as it may still be hot.
3. Set the humidifier output to 6.
4. Place the unit in warm-up mode amd allow it to run for 1 minute.
5. Place your hand above the heater plate (without touching it) to confirm an increase in heater plate temperature. Don’t place your hand directly on the heater plate as it will be hot.
6. Press the dial for 3 seconds to enable cooling down mode.

If you don't want to use your hand you can use a infrared thermometer. Mine reads 106 degrees F after 30 seconds.

If I think about it I'll check the water temperature of a full water tub after it cycles through the warm-up stage.

Cheers, VegasPier

You said temp was 106 F after 30 sec. What should temp be after longer warm up period? Please and thank you.

RE: ResMed H5i humidifier heating
So if the heater plate is barely warm 107 degrees F. is the problem with the H5I or with the main S9 unit? And do you know if this is a problem with Res Med H5I humidifier. I'm ready to order a new one, but if it doesn't fix the problem I'm out a lot of money ($159) ? Do you know whether these are covered by any type of warranty?
