I think he was looking at the number he cared about, the total hours is in another menu. I'd have to go up and wake the wife to find it , but it's there if you find the proper menu.

Doc was probably reading the monthly numbers. Check this video at the 5:50 mark. If you have the same firmware you'll find it.
