ResMed component change schedule

ResMed component change schedule
How many of the ResMed S9 Autoset users change their components according to this schedule that I received from somewhere:
Nasal mask and tubing 1 per 3 months
Nasal Cushions and filters 2 per month
Headgear 1 per 6 months

I've been using the same cushion for the past 5 or more months and have seen my AHI go up.

Cheers, VegasPier

RE: ResMed component change schedule
The mask components have nothing to do with the machine components. Meaning it is the user, not the machine.

Most insurance go by a 3 and 6 months replacement schedule, usually following what Medicare does.

I get a new mask every 3 months. That includes pillows, headgear, etc. If I could get just the pillows, I would. I think some masks may be eligible for parts vs entire replacement. Not sure which ones or how they determine it. There's nothing wrong with the headgear! It's cloth and still looking great. What I do, though, is I wait 6 months then remind my DME. Despite the outrageous amount of money they make, they rarely call me. I can get about 6 months out of the pillows before they start to not fit right.

I also get 3 packs of filters, 2 in each pack, every 3 months but I use one a month for 6 months then call them.

I get a new tube every 6 months. I get a new Climateline in the fall and a new regular tube in the spring.

I don't toss anything. I save it for one round. Meaning, when I get the new Climateline in a few weeks, I will keep the one I got last year but toss the one I got the year before. Same with the other hose. That way I always have a backup. If they do contact me first, I get the supplies and consider them emergency use. I don't open the packages but leave them intact. This has come in handy several times!

RE: ResMed component change schedule
Since I have two CPAP machines, I usually get a new headgear set every 12 months keeping the new one for the house and putting the old one in the travel bag (and disposing of the oldest one). Over the years I've amassed quite a few nasal pillows, which I try to remember to replace every other month; at the current rate, I have enough pillows for two years. Hoses - I replace once a year; currently I have two 6-footers for the travel machine and four 10-footers for the home machine. [Stockpiles courtesy of Nationwide Medical, Inc. replacement schedules]
