ResMed "myair-your device has been removed' email
I recently rec'd an email with the heading "myair-your device has been removed'.  To paraphrase it says that my service provider has removed from my account and therefore removed from my MyAir account.  I contacted my DME and they are scratching their head on this one as they have not removed it and are still monitoring my profile.  My MyAir is still active and hasn't changed at all.  They will remove my profile upon my request but have no problem with them checking up on my stats.

They will be bringing this up with the ResMed rep.

Has anyone else run into this before?

I suggest you download Sleepyhead. It's free and provides much more information than MyAir. It wouldn't concern me at all if I got that message.
Download OSCAR

Mask Primer

Maybe one day us patients will be fed up enough to start a class action against these companies to fully release our own health data and make it fully available to us, as it commonly happens in any healthcare system worthy of its name.

I see your profile states that you're located in Hong Kong.

I'm originally from Saskatchewan, Canada and had to relocate to Manitoba, Canada due to employment.  I can tell you that our health records are available to us upon request.  Depending on the doctor I've dealt with in either province they may charge for a copy as it does require someone to make copies.  If a health care professional (as I have been away from Saskatchewan for a while) in Manitoba refuses to provide the information you can make a formal Access To Information request.

As for my DME they will stop collecting data at my request but it doesn't bother me as it's only data and could be of help in the future.  Can I asked for a copy of the report?  I haven't asked but I will enquire the next time I'm in their office.  The number of DMEs in Manitoba are minimal as only two are listed in Winnipeg, Manitoba as providers of respiratory support (as per Winnipeg Regional Health Authority) and as such the province will pay them to process the prescription.  Until last summer our province paid 100% coverage for CPAP machines and supplies on start up and yearly supplies (usually on an anniversary date).  They would also pay for repairs and visits if needed to aid in your care.  Now we have to copay $500.00 for the initial CPAP machine including start up supplies and every 5 years there after (if a replacement is needed).  The bottom line is as long as they are being paid with public funds as it should be with private funds there should be no problem in getting the information that they have collected.

Keep in mind the DMEs here do not have access or copies of the full sleep study including the specialist's letter and report all they get is the prescription and what information you provide during consultation.

The only draw back here in Manitoba is there is no real competition when it comes to CPAP machines and supplies.  Just a few weeks ago I was in Las Vegas and went to a CPAP store and was blown away with what was available and out on display.  Here at home it's a medical office reception setting with minimal items on display.  Both companies have websites, one with prices and the other does not list any at all.  I have ordered from the one DME that lists prices which are reasonable and chatted with them about the order.  I had to chuckle as they were not my original DME and was eager to poach my prescription from the other DME and have me as a client.

Remember my health services is paid with public funds and as such no one should be denied their access to their records.

Hello Elwoodpdowd,

Ontario resident here and similar situation with health care except I'm a federal government employee (yes I hear the hissing out there) and have excellent insurance so I wasn't out a dime.

But I think the main take away here is that you should take control of your own therapy and the best way to do that is by downloading Sleepyhead and take the time to learn all the amazing data your machine collects.  And more importantly, how to improve on your therapy.  When I first began therapy, my DME monitored my progress and she was thrilled that had an AHI under 5, hovering around 3.5.  It wasn't until after I found this forum and sleepyhead that I was able to dial in my therapy to where I am consistently averaging an AHI of 0.4.  I only download my data to Sleepyhead once a month now as there's no need to look at the data everyday.  (Although I do check my score every morning.)

Also, lots of Canadian on line stores out there if you want to shop around.

I have to say I too am a federali and so is my wife,  that being said the insurance covers 100% so yep that part is good.  Sadly my CPAP comes up as a brick in sleepyhead, I'm fine with it as I'm not having any real issues.  Insurance will only cover a CPAP machine every five years and since my wife's machine is reaching the 5 year mark I asked the insurance it she needed to go to the DME or could she find her own machine and present the invoice directly to them.  They would be getting the prescription, sleep study and consultation letter (keep in mind she wasn't required to submit a claim because the province had initially covered it 100%).  Their response was that she would have to go to the DME first, pay the $500.00 and submit that to insurance.

The saving grace is the information on this board and what is out on the internet has broaden our knowledge in regard to machines.  We will be pushing for the ResMed Airsense 10 for Her when the time comes.  As said before the other DME is most willing to take our business.

I have received two messages, but they were expected.

When I was early in CPAP and using a loaner, upon returning my loaner and getting my machine, I received a similar message when my DME removed their loaner from my profile.

I had to return my machine a few days later because it was making fan noises and straining at higher pressures. Once again, after I exchanged machines.

The exact message was:

Quote:Hello,

The serial number of the machine you had on file with myAir previously had a relationship with a provider. That provider has removed this machine from your account so it has also been removed from your myAir account.

To continue using myAir, please sign in at https://myair.resmed.com/. You will be prompted to provide the new serial and device number of the machine you are currently using. The serial and device numbers can be found on the back of your machine.

Sleep well!

The myAir Team

After receiving the email my device was no longer registered in MyAir.
