Resmed AirSense A10 & BIPAP
Can the AirSense A10 be used as a BiPAP machine and, if yes, with what settings?

Thanks.

RE: Resmed AirSense A10 & BIPAP
The answer is; "kind of".  The highest pressure an A10 can achieve is 20cm. A Bi-Level machine is able to be set to 25cm.  The A10 can set the EPR of up to 3.  This means that the A10 can only separate the inhale pressure from the exhale pressure of 3cm.   A Bi-Level machine is able to achieve a greater separation, I believe up to 10cm.  It's called Pressure Support (PS).   Your inhale pressure on a bi-level is set by setting the exhale pressure (EPAP) then adding the PS value to set the inhale pressure (IPAP).  An example: an EPAP is set to 10cm, the PS is set to 4cm. = 10 (EPAP) + 4 (PS) = 14cm (IPAP)  Please note that this is a VERY basic explanation.

Thanks. The closest to BIPAP with this machine then is my normal 4-11 setting and EPR of 3. I guess I will give it a whirl.
