Resmed CPAP won't let me fix the time & date. Says can't go into the past.

Resmed CPAP won't let me fix the time & date. Says can't go into the past.
Hi,

my Resmed CPAP won't let me fix the time & date. Says can't go into the past. When I was trying to change it it was just before midnight and somehow the date skipped forward so it thinks today is May 7/18 and I figured out I can keep it set at 1900 hours if I adjust the minutes every hour until it is 1900h on the actual 7th but what a pain that would be. I tried resetting to factory defaults but I didn't use the erase all data because I didn't want my CPAP history deleted. I wasn't even willing to try it with the SD card taken out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

To change the date backwards you have to reformat the SD card.

Wait unit just before you go to bed you will be able to set the time back on the resmed to 12:01 (noon + 1 min) if the machine has not been used that afternoon might take a few days to get on track.

I don't want to lose my data and I'm not sure if the CPAP will accept the data being stored on my PC and then put back on the SD card after I format it. Also, after 12 noon today it wouldn't let me go back as far in hours. It is at May 7 20:00h and I don't think it will let me go back to 20:00h if I let it get to 21:00h. So for today I've been turning the clock back to 20:00h every 50 or so minutes so the time never goes forward and I'll get it back to the real time tomorrow evening. PITA though... I got into this because my sleep therapist at the company I got the CPAP from told me there was nothing wrong with how my machine was tracking the time of my CPAP use. Turned out after logging my ups and downs that instead of registering 4 1/2 hours it only registered 1 1/2 hours even though the CPAP was still running when I woke up. I wasn't using smart start either which I hear can cause problems. Also I found out that it does have 1 time problem for sure. It never jumped ahead 1h in the spring.

I'm sure the sleep therapist has access to some diagnostics with the telemetry but he didn't even ask me to bring it in, he just told me he was sure it was fine. *rolls eyes*

If formatting the SD card would let me set the right time why would it not let me when I removed the SD card after unplugging the CPAP? Does anyone know for sure if you can dump the info onto a PC, format it with Resmed's format function on the CPAP, and then put the data back on the SD card? Also, is there 1 particular file that I do NOT want to copy back to the CPAP, such as a file thats only purpose is to log the time or something like that.

Thanks.

I don't know, but my guess is that the machine needs to see a SD card free of data.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it very much. Many insurance companies want compliance data. They therefore don't want patients having the ability to write data to the card.

I'm wondering if the A10's ability to store limited data internally is the problem. I believe the only way to get around this would be to use "Restore to Factory Defaults" option. This should reset everything except total usage hours.

Unfortunately I did try that option. I wrote down all my settings and reset it to default but it didn't touch the time or date. Although the "My Air" website for Resmed was kind enough to let me know that it was thinking of me by putting up a big orange bar telling me my CPAP's date is wrong.

It'll be interesting to see just how much Resmed and my sleep therapist look in on my data. I'll know it's a lot if I get a call from him tomorrow morning. lol I wanted to have this fixed because other then taking it in to the therapist tomorrow and letting him hook it up to a computer with a special cord my only option to get it done myself will be to wake up every 50min and reset the time to 20:00h although since I lost the ability to take it back to 19:00 after noon today I may lose another hour at midnight. Unfortunately I'm a bit busy tomorrow so I'll probably miss at least 1 hour of rollback. As long as I can keep it from getting to midnight and advancing another day I should be able to fix this myself by tomorrow night around 8 to 11pm. I hope. Sucks that nobody knows for sure if I can dump and restore the data later.

BTW while dealing with this I came across the program Sleepyhead. I hear it gives a lot more stats so I may get rid of my My Air account and just use this. Funny thing is that I've used computers and electronics so much that my first guess as to how to get into the hidden settings turned out to be right. lol My sleep specialist changed some settings for me just recently and told me that he wouldn't show me how to get into it. Guess that plan didn't work out to well. lol

I've read on mostly US dominant forums the debate about if I legally have the right to change the settings on a piece of equipment that I own. I hear it is generally considered legal in the US except for maybe... California (?) I think? I have no idea about Canada.

I'm just speculating here, but given that these machines connect to the cell network I would have thought they take their date and time from there. Perhaps try unplugging it from the wall for a bit, plugging it back in again and see then if it updates the date and time automatically.

Good idea. Maybe it will show up in model 11.

Thanks for the thought but unplugging it for 40 min didn't work. And I wasn't able to get up every hour to keep the time at 8pm so I'll have to take it in anyways.
