Resmed P10 Head gear

Hi, I am a user of the P10 mask however the head gear after about 3 months of use stretches so much i have to replace it. I wash it in warm water regularly and make use of the adjustment clips. But still after all of this the mask still leaks. Are there any suggestions on how I can extend the life of the head gear?

Although posting about negative results is kind of pointless in general, I will observe for the record that unfortunately it's not feasible to take a Brevida backstrap/headgear (which retails for $21) and clip it to the P10's frame. If it were feasible, that would solve that problem for all of the (IMHO) crazy P10-lovers out there, because the Brevida's strap has both elastic and velcro, with the velcro extending way back on both sides of the head, and it lasts basically forever. You can put it on and take it off just as you do the P10's headgear, but any stretching doesn't cause those problems and the clips to take up slack aren't needed.

This occurred to me because I have a P10 that I have used only a few times and never again, a complete waste of money as far as I'm concerned, and just out of curiosity I looked to see if that strap replacement could be done. Nope; the P10 is designed and manufactured in such a way that I would have to first cut off the stabilizers with a hacksaw, then somehow drill or punch two holes in the frame to accept the clips of the Brevida strap. Not an easy task. A tool like a leather punch is no good because the plastic of the frame would shatter. It looks like the only way is with a drill press.

So Resmed blew it there, big-time.

You might try soaking it in hotter water. I do that, and it seems to shrink more. I heat a saucepan of hot water on the stovetop then turn off the heat and drop the neoprene band in that for a few minutes to shrink it.

There’s also the P10 “For Her” headgear, which is an inch shorter than the regular P10 headgear. 

I manage to make my headgear last for around 6 months, but yeah, the neoprene strap eventually just loses its elasticity. 

Are you able to get a replacement strap where you live? They are about $20 here.

The Airfit P10 headgear For Her is $18 on Amazon with Prime shipping. At least you can get another lifetime out of the frame for under $20. I can get a longer life out of my P10 headgear. I don't wash it very often, but when I do it just goes in with the sheets in the washer and dryer and is noticeably tighter. As it stretches, the split straps should be placed closer together near the crown of your head to tighten the fit. The P10 is a great mask, and the headgear is the weak link. To me it's worth it for the quiet vent and minimal interface.

I love the P10, but constantly have leakage because of that stupid headgear design.
A few weeks ago I tried the "Aloha" mask and it's been fantastic.
It's basically like a P10 pillow attached to a traditional right-angled headgear design that remains stable and in place all night.

A lot of times, it’s the silicone in the nasal pillows that loses its elasticity. And as a result, it dislodges easier.

You may want to try with replacing the pillow.

Thanks will give it a try. It is frustrating that you have to purchase a set of three sizes to just the one you want. But if this works I suppose it is worth it.

You can buy pillows separately no need to buy the fit pack, look on eBay
