Resmed S questions

RE: Resmed S questions
sorry. I was trying to get your started without sleepyhead. It really is too hard for me to describe how to do it Just from machine data display.

The easiest way is to download sleepyhead and your clinical manual from the top of the page. The s9 autoset is quite a good machine.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

RE: Resmed S questions
You have a Resmed S9 Autoset that is set to Autoset mode with a CPAP minimum pressure of 7.0 and maximum pressure of 13.0. You have not reported issues with comfort or effectiveness. EPR can be set from 0-3. At the maximum setting of 3, your pressures will be 7.0/4.0 (IPAP/EPAP), and may range as high as 13/10.

EPR is marketed as a comfort feature, but it can have a significant effect on your CPAP therapy. EPAP pressure is what keeps your airway patent, and avoids obstructive events. Increasing EPR can make your minimum CPAP pressure ineffective...or not depending on your needs. With a minimum pressure of 7.0, I would suggest an EPR setting of 1 or 2 for comfort. That will make your minimum pressure 7/6 or 7/5. You should monitor your results for increased OA, and either reduce EPR or increase minimum pressure if obstructive events increase at any EPR setting.
