Resmed S9 humidification problem

Resmed S9 humidification problem
My humidifier somehow got switched up accidentally to 4.5. I am not sure how to turn it down. I did watch YouTube videos, so I think that I can do that. I have asthma, so I was told to keep it around 2. I think that it has been at 4.5 for awhile now unbeknownst to me. Problem is that my nose is extremely sore, at 4.5, and I keep running out of water by the morning. I have been sticking two round band aids up my nose to help with the soreness in each nostril, which makes it difficult to breathe. . I am about a month shy of getting a new machine. When I got the machine, say for the first 4 years, one tank of water would last two nights. Now I am setting an alarm to add water in the middle of the night. At the shop where I bought it, they said, oh it's the winter...it uses more water in the winter. Apparently, winter was cancelled the first 4 years that I had it, because this is just a recent problem. My machine has also been getting really hot during the night...and heating up the room. I am afraid that it'll catch on fire or something! Any suggestions? I am a desperate woman!

When I mask up; and turn the machine on by pressing the start button, I can, at that time, turn the dial and adjust my humidity.
You should be able to do the same.

But is that why I am running out of water during the night? Is that why my nose is sore? I need to get this fixed...starting to get cranky with lack of sleep. I also noticed that for the first time in five years...last night I had 15.5 apnea episodes...usually 0.4 a night!!!

Hi StacyA,
Welcome to Apnea Board,
It would be helpful if you could file out your profile. Exact machine name, mask, pressure, etc.

if you want to use less humidity, then turn it down to 2.

Not sure why your nose is sore. Possibly need to see a doctor if it doesn't clear up

The only other issue may be that your 4 year old machine may be malfunctioning, and should be checked out.

Hi StaceyA,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
You might have your machine checked out, it shouldn’t be getting hot enough to heat up your room.
Much success to you as you continue your CPAP therapy and good luck getting your machine problems straightened out.
Hang in there for more responses to your post.
