I would get another Nuance and see if it makes the same noise.
I just switched back to the Nuance after using a FFM for a long time. I was surprised at how much noise it made. Granted, it was quiet, but it was noisy compared to the more diffused venting of the Simplus. It is the design of the pillows vs the full face mask, not the Nuance itself. I can hear myself breathe and that annoys the crap out of me. It's just a matter of getting used to it again.
But if you are hearing that much noise, then it might be a venting error.
