Resmed vpap adapt S9 settings help

Hi!

I'm new to this board (y'all rock) and am doing much of this myself until I can get in to see another Sleep Specialist. I just got this machine and used it for one week on and off (the full face mask is claustrophobic inducing). Here are my settings:

Mode ASV
EPAP 6.0
Min PS 3.0 (won't go any lower)
Max PS 8.0 (won't go any lower)
Mask Full Face
Tube Slimline

My sleep study was inconclusive but I have been having HORRIBLE episodes where I get electric shocks when I am trying to fall asleep and then when I wake I feel like I've been buried alive. It is my unprofessional opinion that I have central sleep apnea. We have me in for a new study in 3 months but I can't wait until then. Last week I got (no joke!) 5 hours' sleep in 4 days and my heart started to act up. I took every medication under the sun and found that depressants or opiates or benzos made it much, much worse. If any of you can help me with my settings I'd be very grateful! I know I should wait for a professional but this is slowly getting worse. At best I'd prefer to rule out central sleep apnea with this machine.

I've included my first week of data. This is with the full face mask. I was thinking of downgrading to just a nasal mask to help with leakage and claustrophobia.

Hi sleepslayer -

Please advise on the manufacture's name of your ASV.  If it is a Resmed, you can download #SleepyHead for viewing your sleep data.  The Philips version ASV's file structure is currently under development in SleepyHead. This will necessitate using Encore Pro for it.

Hi Sleepslayer, welcome to the forum. Your S9 VPAP Adapt is compatible with the free #Sleepyhead software.  All you need to do is install Sleepyhead and upload the data from  your machine's SD card, and were going to be able to tell you pretty much everything you want to know.  Links that describe how to organize charts an post them on the forum are in my signature.  You may also want to see the Beginner's Guide to Sleepyhead for installation and use tips.  http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...sleepyhead 

Your machine is able to stop both obstructive and central apnea and do a lot more, but you don't have it setup right.  I would suggest putting it in AutoASV mode, with EPAP minimum of 5.0, EPAP max of 15.0, PS min 2 and PS max 15.  The PS max you have specified is not enough to cause you to take a breath if a central apnea occurs.  I know you commented that the machine would not go lower than 8.0 PS max, but it is that pressure support that you need to create a breath when you don't take one.  Take a look at this titration guide for your machine, and let's talk more about your settings.
