Resscan settings storage

Resscan settings storage
Does anyone know the file where Resscan stores its settings, such as chart appearance like changed scales, which charts are in what order, etc?

I had to reinstall Windows 8.1, and I lost all the chart customizations, although I was able to move over my data files. I did save quite a bit of stuff, so depending on where they are stored, I may or may not still have them available.

Those settings aren't stored in a file, they're stored in the system registry. Although you could manually edit the registry and get the customized setting back that you have chosen to employ, it would take several hot licks and would be perilous unless you are at expert level with computers.

Easier would be to customize your setting again from within the ResMed program options.

Best regards, Dude

ps. That's just another little advantage that the SleepyHead software has, it doesn't use the system registry for storing user settings.

While I am a former geek and could do it if I knew the hive and keys, I do not have a copy of the previous registry--so not recoverable.

Really weird to store THAT kind of data in the registry rather than in a config file!

Thanks for the info though.

Too bad you have no backups to draw from. For possible future use, the prominent keys are:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ResMed
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ResMed
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2478683115-2410712539-4029595838-1003\Software\ResMed

There are several other entries in the registry for ResMed but they aren't relevant to the task at hand.

Mounting the hives from a backup and exporting them for installing into a present system isn't all that hard, as you no doubt know.

Best regards, Dude

I was pretty sure that registry foul up was a major part of why i had to reinstall Windows, so I did not manually keep it. I do have an image backup of the old system, but it would be harder to find a way to dig it out of there, and get it somewhere it could be accessed, than to just muddle through changing all the charts.
