RE: Rice Therapy 22/23
Btw thank you Opal and Brazen !  Coffee
CA and OA decided to call HYOP and the 3 of them crashed RERA's place, and then the 4 of them decided to call Large Leak to meet in an Unclassified location while Rice95 had the best night of his life.

RE: Rice Therapy 22/23
Hi all

I've been getting a lot of Hypops and Reras lately(along with positional) Some CA's too.

I'm a little concerned because this is not my norm.

I've attached Oscar from the last several nights.

Please help.

Thanks and Happy New Year

RE: Rice Therapy 22/23
Hi Rice,
All of your charts show the same positional apnea.  Hypopnea, RERAs and CA's aren't  a normal occurrence for you, so I wouldn't worry too much as long as it doesn't continue.

As far as taking a nap during the day... I think it's perfectly fine as long as it's a scheduled nap using your Cpap.  If you are napping without your Cpap, you're going to most likely feel worse afterwards.  Ask me how I know..... Sad

Having a busy family life coupled with holiday schedules can take a toll on most of us.
If you need a nap, take it.

Try to stay on course and watch the chin tucking.

Hi Opal

I looked at charts even before the ones I posted and there is the same trend of hypops and Reras. (Up to 2 weeks before the ones you saw)

Are we still ok? I’ve never had clusters of these before

RE: Rice Therapy 22/23
The clusters are still positional.  I normally don't recommend raising pressure as it doesn't normally help with positional apnea.

Using EPR may help with FL and H, but you are already at EPR 3, so the only way to go is to try higher pressure.

Let's experiment.... raise your pressure a little at a time. Try 9.8 for a few days.
Watch and note the affect on apneas. If you're comfortable with it, try 10cm.
Again, you'll need to watch the positional apnea, Aerophagia, increase or decrease in FL, Hypopnea and RERAs.

Most of all is how you feel.

Also, if the above doesn't prove positive, go back and take a look at your September charts. They were looking pretty good while using the Auto mode with a pressure range and low AHI. You may want to go back to those settings. Your median pressure was around 10.

RE: Rice Therapy 22/23
I increased settings to 9.8 last night. My positional apnea is still crazy. I know pressure is unable to help that. I have since ordered a collar I used to use that had good results. Maybe the one I'm using isn't as effective.

Anyway, I'm doing everything I can do to stay off my back and I have been religious about doing all I can do with wedges and side sleeping.

Here's last night's chart.

Well, we have seen worse, right? Remember that you can "chin tuck" even when on your side.

Did you have any issue with the pressure? Aerophagia?

Obviously, the pressure is handling apnea at other times during the night, so keep working on the positional problem.

Keep your pressure at 9.8min - 9.8max. If no problem with Aerophagia, then we can try a straight pressure at 10cm.

Thank you Opal
No aerophagia yet. I’ll keep at it. I’ll try to figure out what’s happening with my positioning. Can a collar too tight cause airway issues ? I have it pretty snug. When I lay down it gets more snug because of the pressure it has with the pillow of course. Not sure if that’s ever happened to anyone before. I’ve got ‘my old stand by’ collar  coming soon. The new one I’ve been using was just something new to try. It’s yielded good numbers but it’s been like a roller coaster
